An original dish from Backacker's Pantry. Nothing like a hot, fresh baked dessert in the backcountry. Unlike most of our other dishes, this one requires a skillet and lid to bake the cobbler mix, but the extra effort and equipment is well worth it!

 

 

INGREDIENTS:

COBBLER MIX (NON GMO PURE CANE SUGAR, POTATO STARCH, LEMONADE DRINK (SUGAR, CITRIC ACID, SODIUM CITRATE, SALT, ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS, CLOUD POWDER (CORN SYRUP SOLIDS, MODIFIED FOOD STARCH, SOYBEAN OIL, XANTHAN GUM), ARTIFICIAL COLOR (FD&C YELLOW #5)), SEA SALT, CINNAMON), APPLES (APPLES, CALCIUM STEARATE (ANTI-CAKING AGENT), SODIUM METABISULFITE), TOPPING (MUFFIN MIX (ENRICHED WHEAT FLOUR (FLOUR, MALTED BARLEY FLOUR, NIACIN, IRON, THIAMINE MONONITRATE, RIBOFLAVIN, FOLIC ACID), SUGAR, PALM OIL, WHEY, CONTAINS 2% OR LESS OF (ARTIFICAL FLAVOR, CITRIC ACID, EGGS, LEAVENING (BAKING SODA, MONOCALCIUM PHOSPHATE, SODIUM ALUMINUM PHOSPHATE), MONO-AND DIGLYCERIDES, NONFAT MILK, SALT, SODIUM CASEINATE, SOY FLOUR, WHEAT STARCH)

PREPARATION & STORAGE:
(Requires Cooking) Remove and discard enclosed oxygen absorber before beginning food preparation. Remove cobbler mix packet and set aside. Add apples and sauce to 1 cup (240 mL) of water. Stir. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cook for 5 minutes. Stir occasionally. Add 3 tablespoons of water to cobbler mix. Stir until smooth. Spread cobbler mix over apples. Cover and cook over low heat for 1 minute in a nonstick pan. Best By Date on packaging is 10 years from manufacturing date.
